I'm Ben Shaw, owner of Shaw Works.  My woodworking experience began in 1989, when I had the opportunity to apprentice to boatbuilder Chip Stulen in Suttons Bay, Michigan.  At the same time I worked refinishing antique furniture at Devonshire Antiques in Traverse City. From there (long story short) my marriage took me to Brazil, where I opened my first woodworking shop.  It was a wonderful twelve years of business and life experience in Brazil.

In 2008 my wife and I returned to my old stomping grounds in Traverse City, Michigan.  Since then I have continued working with cabinets and furniture, as well as returning to my boatbuilding roots. Currently I am working on the interior of a 1968 Morgan 30 as well as replacing and refinishing the wood on a Dyer Dhow “Midget”, which is a 7’ 11” sailing dinghy.
